I became that Mom...

So, when I had Trenton I vowed that I would never be late. It is so annoying to me that just because people have children they cannot arrive anywhere on time. A friend of mine is like that. She cannot get to anything that has a particular starting point (Church, appointments, meetings) on time, but she can get to any meal on time or any shopping trip. HMMM, your dramatic entrance to things is not needed. I have always been early. My Mom is not a fan of being late, there is never an excuse that is good enough, so I practiced getting up early and getting Trenton ready while I was on Maternity leave so I would know how to do it when I went back to work. I have never been late. I really appreciate this aspect of myself. (Modest, right?)

Well, this morning, I was late. Keep in mind, I left the house early, got Trenton to school by 7:40, but then I decided to go to Target. I knew I had to go to get Trenton an Easter basket (i know, i am early as far as time, but not so much as far as planning for events. Yes, my last job was as an event planner). In Target I got so distracted by the amount of stuff I thought I couldn't live without. I don't know how Target has that effect - especially those $1 bins, who really needs that much crap, but apparently, the masses do. I can't tell you how tempted I have been to grab something out of every slot and just call it a necessity for my child. This morning it was coloring books. Trenton can't color, but one day, one day he will and I should be prepared, right? I don't think Wes will agree with my logic, but I digress.

I got the Easter Basket; however, yesterday, we found out that Ansley and Adam are expecting a little girl. Well, I HAD to shop for her too. Sadly, I didn't actually purchase anything because I was spending so much time debating on size/season and then I had to find hairbows! (never found them) So, I look at my phone (my only clock) and realize it is 8:27 and I am supposed to be at work at 8:30. OOPS! Understand this is really late for me because I normally get to work around 8:15.

Realizing that I will be a little late, I am devestated. I was late because of my own self and my need to find hairbows. Sorry, Ansley, the hunt is still on, but I did find a really cute Easter dress; however, I don't think it is a good time to purchase it! :)

Also, Trenton's pictures (from what I hear) went fabulously! He smiled and everything! He is precious! This morning he was in such a good mood. He smiled at every one we saw. I cannot wait to see the proof for his school pictures. Watch the little guy decide that on Saturday (when I pay for professional pictures) he just isn't into that. Such is life.

  1. HA! I laughed out loud with the coloring books b/c that SAME thought process went thru my head. "Maybe Davis needs some coloring books...except that he is 6 months old and would just want to eat the books...then the pages would get wet...and soggy...and he would probably spit up on them...Then he would grab the colors and eat them...and we know what would end up the diaper.." This was my thought process. Needless to say, I decided against the coloring books.
And sad to say, i am THAT mom. I pack the night before, i get up early to assure i am not late, but alas, i usually am... :( But i hate dramatic entrances so i usually try to slip in...oops

  4. Maybe after I learn to be on time, God will give me a child, so I can go back to being late :)
