Here Comes Trouble....

We went to the beach this weekend where I got the first glimpse of Trenton's independence. I am glad he is now starting to sit up, but I had no idea that he would be so interested in everything around him. The past few days have been days full of "no, Trenton." Today he pitched his first hissy fit, but we will get to that.

Here is Trenton in his pack n' play, finding out how to turn off his music and lights all by himself!
Keep in mind it is almost 10:00PM here and Trenton did not want to fall back asleep, because he had better things to do. I am also adding a picture of Trenton getting ready for the beach (FOR THE FIRST TIME!). He looks really chunky, but I promise he isn't that big, he was just in the middle of spitting all over the place, so this is what I got.

Then today we went to the rescheduled Dr's appointment from last week where Trenton found his diaper bag...PRECIOUS! At least he would put things back after he was done with them.
After the appointment, I took him to school and changed his diaper...this is where the first hissy fit came in....I was changing him and he kept reaching for EVERYTHING around him...which in this case were other children's diapers and wipes. I would say, Trenton, No, and move him away. He would grunt and move back. I would reapeat this routine, but before I could get him, he had grabbed another childs baby powder. He started shaking it all around, fortunately, the mess was minimal, but I said (sternly) "TRENTON, NO!" To which he screams and starts crying...life is hard when you are almost 8 months old! Glad Trenton is so much like me...these are sure to be some fun battles in my future.

There's No "I" in Head Butt

Last night was quite the night at the Ellis' house. I ran errands after work, ran to the McRee house to tkae care of things, came home and started packing myself, Trenton and Wes for the beach as well as packed Baxter for the doggie hotel. After getting everything done I decided to spend some time with my first child, Baxter. We were playing on the floor (keep in mind Baxter doesn't realize his size, most of the time he considers himself a lap dog) and Baxter just happened to move at the right time so that his bottom tooth caught the side of my nose right by my eye. Let me tell you, that hurt. I immediately rolled over and just cried. My poor nose had a minor cut on it (by my eye) and while I am sobbing, Wes is chasing the dog around telling him that he is a bad dog. Me, still crying. Wes, "IF you ever do that to my son." Me, crying a little harder. Wes, "Baxter! NO! COME HERE!" Baxter (bless his heart) thinks this is a game. Finally Wes walks over and goes "you okay?"

Um, NO I am not okay. My eye has a cut and my nose hurts, but thanks for asking. Naturally, like any mature 26 year old, I decide I need to text my parents...who are in Chicago! So, I take the most unflattering picture of myself (zoom in on my swollen nose and cut) and send it to my dad. Since Dad is a doctor he is used to diagnosing Ansley and I over the phone. I think half the time he tells us what he thinks we want to hear. But, I text my picture with a description of the incident. Here, dad, diagnose my eye through a horrible text image. My simple question, "will I have a black eye?" I have never had a black eye, I don't like injuries near eyes (thanks to my Mom) and I am not sure what to do.

Immediately I jump to if I have a black eye, the pictures of Trenton's first trip to the beach will look stupid, so I am wearing sunglasses for every picture. While my mind is racing, my head is throbbing, and Wes is watching the Carolina/Oklahoma game (occassionally checking in with me - but he has learned to just ignore me), my dad responds.

Dad is new to texting, so my 3 page text is met with this response Yes, but not til morning. The response to my next 3 page text, "noted". I love my Dad.

Well, fortunately, I do not have a black eye. Props to Dad for attempting to diagnose from a horrible picture. My nose is sore and the cut is able to be covered with make up, but it hurts.

Doctor! Doctor!

Recently, we have had quite a time getting Trenton released from all of his doctors. First, I go to the Cardiologist and they tell me my appointment isn't until July 1. Well, I know this is wrong, but Wes says he always knew it was then, but didn't want to argue with me. However, while in the cardiologist office, I get terribly frustrated because they haven't seen my son in over 6 months, but yet he has a heart condition that is so severe I have to be trained on giving him his medicine. So, I simply ask, "What is the point of my keeping the appointment?" Well, the nurse says, your son could be having an attack in the middle of the night and you don't know it. Um, what? My child could be struggling and passing out, only at night, I don't know it, but you want to check his heart at 8:00AM? Really? Keep in mind that Trenton has been on digoxin since birth, but he hasn't had an increase in dose since December, so really, what is the point. Well, when Wes gets frustrated he just wants to leave, but I want to stay and argue my point; however, it really won't do any good, so we just leave. Fine.

Today I was putting things in the safe deposit box and what do I find?!? Trenton's appt card!

This says Pediatric Cardiology and it gets better......

For those who cannot see it says Trenton 6.17.10 at 8:15 AM. Dear Pediatric Cardiology, I would like for you to credit my HUGE bill with what I would have been charged for not calling to cancel. Thanks, Sara Ells.

So, we are officially released from Cardiology after this harrowing event. BUT, today was another appointment, follow-up from his scope. So, we get ready

No, this isn't fat guy in a little coat, but Trenton looks like a BIG BOY here. I promise he still fits in his car seat, but he was starting to sit up as I was taking the picture. But, we leave for MCG!

Naturally, we arrive early (see early blog about running late), but we just play in the waiting room...

Trenton now takes his pacifier, but only to chew on, not to suck. Here we are waiting our turn and talking (very loudly) to Mommy. We play and he is in a good mood. We get called back, weighed (16lbs, 14oz), and wait in another room for the Dr. Well, our luck is such that they come and say that for the second time in his career the doctor is sick! Well, I am not mad about this, he can't help it and it is rare that doctors call in (trust me, Dad NEVER does), so I just reschedule and go about our day.
So, recently the Ellis Family has not had the best of luck with doctors, but I am sure everything is fine and Trenton would be released. For now I am off to call cardiology and cancel our appointment for July 1, because as I said, Trenton is released from cardiology.
Hopefully Wes has better luck this afternoon at the pediatrician's office for shots! Bless his heart!

Team Couch!

Let me explain one of my favorite moments at Ansley's Sunday baby shower. We played a game and normally, I am not a big game player (at showers) so I enter this game with my sarcasm face on. Well, I always have my sarcasm face on, but this time it was in full force! :) So, the game is this, Keely plays songs that have the word Baby in them and you have to ring in and name the song title and artist. You get bonus points if you can sing it....I AM PUMPED! We divide into teams....here is mine.....Mrs. Boatman, Sally Givens, and Sara! Aunt Nana was on our team, but she got disqualified because she wouldn't blow the whistle to ring in, she would just jump up and down and yell "Oh, Oh, Oh!".
Mrs. Boatman is Adam's grandmother and she is in the green. I believe she is probably one of the funniest people I have ever met. Mrs. Sally is a dear friend of our family and she has known me since I was tiny. Well, Keely told me there needed to be a young person on every team and Mrs. Boatman recruited me. Well, I told her we were going to dominate! Dominate we did. We were such an amazing team that at one point in time my whistle was taken away from me. I also enjoyed hearing Mrs. Boatman sing and dance with me. After rapping Baby Got Back and Ice, Ice Baby we had decided...we were going to tour! We don't have a name yet, but we are definitely going to learn all of our songs and hit the road. We even won the game. Our prize, a CD with all the songs on it! Just what Mrs. Boatman and Sally wanted!

If I were in charge...

Here is my rant for the day, well, one of them. Every day at work I come up with a different title for myself based on the first issue I encounter of the day. I am teller, back up CSR, and I help Accounting, but in all honesty that doesn't fit on a business card. However, I don't have a card because not many people carry around their teller's card, but I digress. Today I am not sure what to call myself, here is my issue...

Recently, my family went through a BIG change, we upgraded our cell phones. This seems like a small thing, but really, 3 hours in the store would tell me otherwise. So, we left all excited about our new phones - Mom, Dad, & Wes all got a Blackberry. I got a Palm Pre....love of my life. Well, these phones all have internet access and texting, etc. Here is my dilemma.
The state of Georgia now makes it illegal to text and drive, but yet we are forced to buy phones with texting and internet. How much sense does that make? Also, how can they tell if I am texting or just surfing the web...that isn't illegal while driving. I guess my point is this, we survived for eons without cell phones, then the introduction of this...

Every Save By the Bell fan remembers how cool Zack Morris was when he whipped this sucker out! I mean, it was basic, it dial, rang, and it was portable; however, not very practical. Who could ever forget the convenience of the next "cell phone"

If this doesn't scream quick and easy, but I remember when my Dad got his..you know, for those medical emergencies when he was "on call". Keep in mind this was the same time my sister and I shared a pager. Yes, we shared. Our friends not only had to keep up with the schedule of when each of us had the pager, but they also had to dial an 800 #, enter a 16 digit code, and then, they could page us. Fortunately Dad had this handy device should we need to call any one. I am sure I am missing some phones, but you get my point. The flip phone came, then the sliders/gliders, OH, and when I first started dating Wes he had direct connect. Talk about obnoxious! That stupid noise and EVERYBODY could hear your conversation. Then the touch screens, now you don't really have to do anything but press a button and you are connected to every one. Well, this is great, but is it necessary??

I am at the stage where I have to pay my own bills and I have to tell you that I am not excited to have a BIG cell phone bill so that I can have the capability to sit at a dinner table and speak to nobody because I am too busy on my phone. Is it really that important that someone made it to the next stage in FarmVille or that another person just got back from walking their dog? I did admit that I love my phone, but the reality is this - I would trade my phone in for a Zack Morris phone any day if it meant that the government didn't have to create new laws and my bill would be under 150.00. I don't have a land line, but really, I can survive without a fancy phone.

However, simple Zack Morris phones are not an option anymore. I was told I could get a phone with just texting capabilities, but really, why would I? We are moving more and more to the point where we don't even talk on the phone, just chat via video. I am sure this is exactly what Alexander Graham Bell had in mind.

None, Nonie, Nona

That isn't a Latin saying...it is a family dilemma!

This weekend was so much fun! Although I enjoyed the weekend showers, my favorite part was sitting in my parent's living room and laughing with my family. I think all of us were firing and actually having a good time...in our own smartbutt ways. Since most of you know my family well, you know that we are pretty sarcastic people. Bless Wes's heart, he is actually coming around, but this weekend I think we were just strolling down memory lane and he would participate when he could, but even Wes started laughing. One of my favorite is the ongoing saga for what to call Mom. So, I have really liked the name Nonie. But this created a dilemma because Mom can't say it. Not only that, but she can't spell it. When asked how she would spell Nonie, she said, None. Quickly, Ansley helped Mom to realized that was already a word....
Nona is a lot like Nana, but it grew out of Nameless, No Name. So, then it turned into spelling it Know-Knee. We are not really sure what we are going to call Mom, but I am sticking with Nonie. We will see if I win. Trenton will probably call her something completely different, but still, it is fun to play. So, feel free to vote for your favorite name. We are open to suggestions!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

Last night Trenton went to his SECOND GreenJackets game. It was HOT, but the heat quickly turned to rain. However, my little man did a great job keeping dry and safe. Here are a few pictures from last night and just the past few days. It is amazing how much he has grown!
I mean it seems like not too long ago I was blogging about him holding his bottle and now he can hold his sippy cup!

Now, that you have fallen in love with this face all over again, in 48 hours, I am asking for your help. I have entered Trenton in a contest at Gerber.com. I am hopeful he will win because it is a 25K Scholarship. So, in 48 hours, check back for the link so you can vote for my baby! I mean, he is the cutest!

Wii are Family!

Catchy title in order to get away with blogging about two totally unrelated items; however, I cannot let a day go by without blogging about our new toy, the Wii. Now, I know plenty of people have one and know about it, but Wes and I are new to it and LOVE it. Now, we are not big game players, but the Wii Fit and I have become fast friends. Wes even loves it. We played with Trenton, Wes cooked (he lost a bet), Wes walked Baxter, I washed my car, and we worked out on the Wii. Now, Wes and I are competitive, but we are trying not to be in this, mostly because I would be devastated after last night, night 2, our stats were this....Sara, down .4lbs, Wes, down 2.4lbs....that isn't fair! However, I told him the results just show me how much he was eating. I am excited for him though. So, Operation Bridesmaid continues. I am hopeful to lose more, but working out tonight will be hard with the season finale of Glee! I will stay dedicated....

On a Trenton note, this morning we arrived at daycare and Trenton saw one of the ladies and got SO excited. At first, my heart broke a little, but then I realized that he LOVES where he is and he is in good hands with the ladies. Trenton is SO much fun these days. I swear he and Baxter can talk to each other. This morning as I was getting ready, Trenton was talking to whoever would listen. In this case, it was Baxter. I was in the bathroom putting on make up and could talk to him, but not like Baxter. I sneak a peek and this is what I find.

Trenton is saying DaDa and all his other noises and Baxter is whimpering and licking his foot. Oh, how these two love each other. I guess that is what they are saying!

What a difference a hospital stay makes....

We had a time at the hospital! Mama was definitely not the happiest or friendliest guest. I did enjoy sleeping on the vinyl couch and the massive scrape I received from the metal wire poking through my vinyl mattress. I did learn that I need to specify for them NOT to put the IV in Trenton's left arm. Bless his left hand loving heart, he couldn't figure out where his thumb was because it was covered by the IV. We made it through, but I was not the nicest guest. I was grateful for all the doctor did to help Trenton, but exhaustion had set in and I was pretty much over staying the night when nothing was done. Another amazing thing is that Thursday night Trenton couldn't sleep, so we were up at 10:30, 2:30, 4:00 and 4:30. No worries, we slept from 4:30 to 6:00! So, needless to say, when they released us, we were GONE!

So, Friday was a complete exhaustive day. Saturday, Wes and I started playing our new Wii and fell in LOVE! Much to Wes's dismay, I am pretty good at Tiger Wood's Golf and even beat him. We also went and bought the Wii Fit on Saturday and started doing that Sunday. BUT, the amazing news is on Saturday, while Wes was golfing, Trenton said "DaDa". I have never seen Wes's face light up so much! He said it once and Wes just looked at me, then he said it again! He has since not stopped saying it, unless we want him to. I love hearing him say it though. I am trying to teach him MaMa, but when I say that he sticks out his tongue and laughs and then says DaDa. I am so excited for Wes though. He and Trenton are like two peas in a pod. I cannot wait to listen to Trenton grow more. Granted, we still can't sit up, but soon we will know subject/verb agreement. :)

While I showed my fanny at the hospital...all to get my son his left thumb, it was all worth it since we were able to hear his first precious DaDa!

procedure day

they just took trenton back. Everyone has been super nice and although I am still nervous, I know he is in good hands. Dr. Borders said he will just look and may put a stent in or may do nothing. About an hour until it is over. Trenton has been doing well, but hungry.

Happy Birthday Trenton, cont.

Blogger and I had a disagreement, so more recent pictures of Trenton will come soon.
he is a big boy now and can do it by himself!
Playing wiht his new alphabet toy early in the morning!
He now sucks in his lips when he is doing anything...precious!

Happy Birthday, Trenton!

My little man is 7 months old today! So, please check Ansley's blog theboatmans.wordpress.com for the medical update, but I have decided to just rejoice in my baby turning 7 months. He is the most amazing miracle I have ever had the privilege of knowing. I understand that he is still just a baby and we have a lot still to do, but I love him so much. So, below are some recent pictures of my precious miracle. Please do keep him in your prayers tomorrow as he goes for his procedure. However, just watching him pull off his socks this morning and being amazed and so proud of what he had done. I cannot wait for him to start sitting up, crawling, walking, and giving me a run for my money! Wes and I are truly blessed and all the joy we get from Trenton makes all the hard times we endured worth every minute!

Trenton around day 2 of life. I was so scared then, but never knew how much a parent truly loves their child until I got to meet him.

Now, I cannot believe how much fun he is!

How the Lottery Changed Our Lives...

Wes and I rarely play the lottery...well, I rarely play the lottery, but Wes...a little more. Anyway, last Wednesday I decided I wanted a scratch off, so Wes went to the store and bought some tickets. We spent $40 that time, but we won $25. We didn't break even, but he cashed in the tickets and bought another $10 ticket. On that $10 ticket he won $100. He called and we were excited. Well, he went again and bought another $10 ticket. I never heard from him, so I figured it was nothing. That day, Thursday, we were meeting for lunch and he brings Heather the ticket and tells her to show it to me. She does and we had won $500!!!! I could not believe it! Even funnier is when Wes pulled up I was talking to Debra and asked why he was here. He was 30 minutes early for our lunch date. Well, she said "Maybe he is bringing you money". My response, "Yeah right!"Clearly, I had to eat my words.

All in all, we won about $600. Well, knowing when to stop, we decided no more. However, that seemed to change come Saturday morning. Wes went to the store and just bought one more and won another $100!

I am telling you, we are done! We can't continue this much longer.

So, like those shows, the lottery changed my life in the following ways...
the taxes on my car were due this month, one less headache
i could shop this weekend without using my debit card AND still have money left
grocery shopping didn't hurt my feelings as much (wouldn't you know I had more coupons this week than any other!)

I would love to tell you that we won the BIG jackpot, but if we EVER did that, I would remain anonymous! So, we are done with our lottery winnings for a while, but it was nice to say the lottery changed our lives!
