Disney World Day 2

Last night Granny came over and brought dinner. Trenton was of course fussy because he slept 30 minutes at daycare yesterday. PRECIOUS! We had a nice visit with Granny and even Baxter got wrapped around Granny's heart. Granny and my 80 lb Baxter bonded over french fries and chicken...mmm. After Granny left, Trenton fought sleep, but finished 5 oz of his bottle and drifted off to sleep. Baxter and I put him in his crib and we too, drifted off to sleep...until my phone goes off.

Normally, I do not hear my phone, but I did this time and it was Wes. He had misplaced a gift card, so we had to buy dinner, not a big deal, but we did have to text about it for 10 minutes. This is around 9:30 and I am trying to stay awake so I can talk to my husband for the first time that day, but I don't make it to 10, and the cell phone didn't wake me up. SORRY WES!

Trenton, Baxter and I slept until 1:00AM when Trenton HAD to eat. He is getting to where he will soon find his thumb. He sucks his entire fist and sometimes puts his thumb in there but doesn't know where to put his other fingers...oh how i pray he won't find the thumb. Trenton took 5 oz at 1, slept until about 6 and took 6 oz! We called Daddy around 7:20 this morning and that is when my little man decided to cry, but not before I got precious photos!

Sorry they are dark, but here is precious in his outfit that Deann gave him! TOO CUTE! It is monogrammed on the onesie and the jacket!

Today he is picked up by Nameless and Sir and hopefully soon we will get to Nashville where it is SNOWING! I hope Ansley and Beaty stay warm! Daddy comes home tomorrow!

Disney World!

So, Daddy is in Disney World the rest of this week for his company meeting. I am playing Mom and Dad this week, which for the first night went really well. Trenton got home yesterday, took a bath, ate, and slept from 7:30-1:00AM! Mommy was very happy. Then he slept from 1:30-5:45AM! Trenton is starting to LOVE bath time, but more than bath time, he loves his towel time. He has a doggie on his head..so cute!
I didn't get to talk to Wes because I was asleep, but I did get texts from him saying that last night, while at the meeting, they let them loose in Hollywood Studios. Wes got to ride on some of the rides, Tower of Terror and Toy Story were the rides mentioned to me. He bought his son an outfit, of course! But he seems to be enjoying the trip. I am going to go ahead and admit that although Wes and I are not huge Disney fans, we do plan on taking Trenton. It is a right of passage. However, we will not be going every year.

One thing I truly loved about my childhood (although I don't remember every trip) was going to a different state every year. Who doesn't want to go to Hershey, PA and Sedona, AZ? I want Trenton to see a lot of the US, so while we will venture to Orlando once, we will not make it a yearly trip.

This morning, Trenton was in a surprisingly good mood. So, we had a touch of a photo shoot...I wish I could say the same thing for the dog. :) Baxter is so neglected, not in a bad way, but he was just SUPER spoiled before Trenton's arrival. We had a mini photo shoot with him, but he protested. Here is Trenton looking more and more like my Dad, but with hints of his own personality and features shining through.

Tonight Great-Granny comes and visits and brings us dinner from Chick-fil-a..yummy!

Trenton's Doctor Visit

Yesterday was probably one of the most traumatic days for a Mom. Yes, Trenton has been through a lot, but while I know it was not easy for him, I was not a first hand witness of his surgery, so this was definitely the worst I have experienced since being released from the NICU....

Trenton got FIVE shots yesterday! He took it like such a champ...right before the shots, I was feeding him....>

He has just finished 5 oz here and was drifting off to sleep....so peaceful.

Then, the nurse comes in with all 5 shots and one oral vaccine. We do oral medicine 2 times a day, so we are ready for that...take it like a champ. I have to give the nurse credit, she knocked those shots out really fast...shot 1, he looked fine, no tears. Shot 2, face turns BRIGHT red. Shot 3, we start screaming. shot 4 (another leg) we are in full on tear fit! Shot 5, done...whew! So, I did really well and didn't cry...Trenton cried, but only for about 2 minutes. Here is Trenton after shots...

Trenton has definitely discovered his hands and is into self soothing, which is great, but his hand was not quite doing the trick after the shots. However, once we got home, he didn't cry and just kicked and smiled! How I love this boy! My sister says in this picture he looks a lot like me. I am not sure how I feel about this.

That was Trenton's BIG day of shots...we go again March 30th!

Aunt Dr., Aunt Bee, Uncle JP VISIT!

So, this weekend was a pretty eventful one for precious little Trenton. Friday night, I ended up leaving work later than normal, but I make it home and Wes has to immediately leave because his door won't lock at work. Why this is a problem since they are glass doors and he was just robbed, I mean I understand, but not really. :) So, he goes to meet the locksmith. I stay with Trenton and cook dinner. After we eat, Trenton does and then he goes to bed...simple night.

Saturday, Aunt Dr. comes into town. I call her this because she is my friend, Katy Falk, who is about to graduate from optometry school in May. So, she will be my Dr. friend. Well, she calls me after she runs on the Battery in Charleston, rough life, and says her GPS puts her in NA around 2:50ish. Great! So, I am watching TV and waiting. Meanwhile, Wes takes Trenton to the shop to see Uncle Brian and Wayne. Trenton is such a good boy, but they don't crank the engine because Trenton doesn't have baby earplugs. :) So, Wes is sure to be home by 3 so he can be there when Falk arrives. They get home and I get a call from Falk - "um, I didn't want you to be worried but I probably won't be there until 3:30....this is typical Falk, no offense....I hit a turkey!" I am sorry, what?!? I thought she was driving on the interstate, so I had no idea why there would be a turkey. No, my friend decided to take back roads and she hit a turkey! She said she and the car are fine, but there was a feather in her windshield that was a constant reminder of the life she prematurely took. What is so ironic about this is her boyfriend is quite the hunter...so, she calls him and asks how many he shot because she got a turkey. Well, he wasn't hunting those, but still. So, I decide I will have to go get Falk some wine to help her after her traumatic experience. So, I do. Keep in mind, I do not drink wine...I don't like it, I know nothing about it, but I figure there can't be too many options, so I hit the road to Publix.

Nobody told me the wine aisle had about 500 bottles on it! Why does it have to be so difficult? I mean, there is some serious competition out there. Falk told me to buy chianti...okay, that is direction..how long could this take? So, the first wine I come to is in a box..no, that isn't what I want. Next I see Arbor Mist. I remember way back in college Falk drinking this, but surely, she has moved on to something better. So, I keep looking...next bottle, about a gallon of wine...not what I want either. So, I just start looking for names that sound yummy. No clue. I text my friend, Bee, who texts me back Sunday - little late. Publix has an amazing system that helps you understand what type of wines go with what food. I know we are having chicken, I can do this! However, I was reading about white wines for the first 20 minutes on the wine aisle! FINALLY! I find something, reasonably priced and I go with it. WHEW!

I get home after running into half of North Augusta and forgetting 3 things on my list and FALK is there! YAY! Trenton is dead asleep..sleeps through Baxter barking at Falk, me coming home and screaming when I see Falk, everything. So we chat a while and Trenton wakes up...FALK is such a good MOM! I seriously learned so much from watching her. AMAZING. Trenton LOVES her..he calms down with her and everything. The only thing on which Falk needs to improve is she lets him fall asleep while he eats and she gets engrossed in conversation and then we have to wake him up, but she was such a natural! She feeds him at 9:30 and we put him to bed...along with my husband, and stay up and chat about life..we haven't seen each other since Bee's wedding...GREAT night..

SUNDAY ~ Um, Falk sleeps in until 10...we went to bed at midnight and she wakes up and says "I didn't mean to sleep 10 hours...morning!" I was so glad to let her sleep in. Wes and I slept in until 8 for me and 9 for him! WOW! So, Bee and JP are coming from a wedding in Cola. Originally they were getting there between 12 and 1, but around 3 they arrive..I haven't seen them since their wedding in June either! CRAZY! So great to see them and get to catch up. Trenton loved meeting his Aunt Bee (not from Andy Griffith) and Uncle JP. Bee didn't give herself credit, but she was also a great Mom! She got to feed him part of the bottle and Uncle JP finished if off. They stayed and we talked for a while until the weather and family came and they decided to hit the road! I am so ready to have a reunion where we all can make it there...friends are great to have around..and I miss these girls SO MUCH!

I have to say, I had such an amazing time seeing them and catching up. To the point that Bee and I talked after she was on the road to ATL. I hope they can come back soon! Tonight I hope to post pictures of Trenton with his DIVAS! I LOVE these girls and hope soon Aunt LeeLee and Wally, Aunt Becker and Russ can visit!

on a side note..Please start praying for my sanity as Wes leaves for Orlando (for work) on Wednesday and doesn't come back until Saturday...uh oh! Nameless is picking Trenton up from daycare on Friday and helping to keep him until Wes gets home on Saturday (I have class).

January 13: RSV, but making the best of things...

Trip to Columbia to see Sara & PJ...too tired to burp!

New Year's Day! We were at my parent's house..he wore his camo pants that day...precious!

December 7 going out on the town!

December 3 dilation...almost done...I was at this one by myself (wes had to work, but he wanted to be there) so I had my first adventure of him, his stuff, and a dirty diaper...lots of work!

November 24 dilation..he was STARVING in this photo, but I thought he was too cute, so I had to take a picture!

PICTURE DELETED, SORRY!

November 20: Trenton is going HOME! Wes and I picked an outfit out WAY before all this started and it was size 6 month..it was HUGE! I didn't even think about that when they called to tell me he was going home, so Mom and I made it work...he looks so small (he was) but that outfit isn't helping.

November 19: PIC LINE OUT!!!!! Sleeping peacefully!

November 18: Trenton LOVES the bottle nipple...he was SO skinny!

November 17, 2009 NG Tube out - BEST surprise from Dr. P.

November 13 art. line out

Trenton in the hospital before all the lines and things came out...It is amazing how much he has changed. This was November 9, 2009.

Trenton & Sir

Yesterday, Sir (my father) kept Trenton. Apparently they had a pretty uneventful day. Trenton ate and slept (a little). Sir taught Trenton math (addition and multiplication). I do ask for help though because Sir tells me that Trenton is having trouble learning his addition and mulitplication with zeros. I mean really, that should come naturally if the others are coming to him. They also had 2 visitors, Edward, Dad's friend came over to play and then Granny came to bring us dinner from her neighbor Sally! I know Dad LOVED spending time with Trenton and I am sure there are more stories, but they are keeping them between the two of them. :)

Back to School

Today Trenton is back to school....I have learned since the first few times we went to dress him somewhat lightly and bundle him on the way to the car! I even made a list for daddy so he won't forget anything when he picks him up. :) Here is Trenton on his way to school today..sorry it is dark, he fell asleep and I didn't want to turn on all the lights.

2 Months, 3 Weeks

Things I have learned as a Mom/Wife since Trenton was born..

1. BE SPECIFIC!
On our first outing, we went to see my parents. Great, however, Wes wanted to take his diaper bag, so we did. I asked the pertinent questions, did you pack diapers? formula? bottles? bottle nipple? and I received a yes to all of those. However, I forgot to ask, Did you pack the right size diapers? Yes, my newborn sized child sported a size 2 diaper once we had to change him...oops!

2. CHOOSE YOUR BATTLES
They tell you this when you get married to, but even with my almost 3 month old, I am having to chose my battles. I like for him to look all clean and put together, but he truly doesn't care about that little dribble of formula under his mouth, only I do. Don't bother him.

3. DON'T MAKE A PLAN
Truly, I am not the biggest planner, but sometimes I like to have a time schedule. I vowed I would not be that woman that is late to everything because she couldn't get her child and family ready in time, but I am learning Trenton pretty well dictates much of what I do. Oh, it is time for Church, sorry God, my child still has 2 oz. I mean, honestly! **note, that time we did interrupt feeding to go to church. *** Oh, you want to go back to work, sorry, your child is going to get sick again! There is not such thing as a plan.

4. SLEEP WHEN HE SLEEPS..um, no thanks!
Tell that to the dust bunnies lying in the house or the dog that hasn't been bathed or played with all day because Trenton won't be put down. Sorry Wes, you would have clean clothes, but Trenton took a nap..dinner, no can do...it was nap time. I just can't justify it. Wes worked while I was on maternity leave. Although, yesterday taught him to appreciate those 10 weeks and all I did, there isn't a bone in my body that could sleep while all that needed to be done.

5. ASSUME NOTHING!
Case in point, last night, Trenton and I went to P-POD. Great time, but he had been fussy all day, so we get home and he eats at 7:00. Great! He fights sleep until about 8:45/9:00, so I am thinking why go get all cozy in my bed for him to wake up at 10:00 to eat, right! WRONG! Wes and I stayed on the couches..my 6'4" husband on the love seat, me on the big couch (with Baxter), Trenton in his pack and play. Well, Baxter wakes me up to go out around 2:00am. Trenton is still asleep. So, I think that soon he will be waking up...nope, 4:00AM Trenton decides to eat. Really!, REALLY! We slept on the couches for nothing. Deep down, I think my child is a lot like me, and he is laughing at us. Especially since this is about the 5th time we have done this...we may be the idiots we deny we are.

6. DON'T HOLD YOUR CHILD ALL THE TIME
I learned this after I took Trenton to daycare. My child has been through a lot in the first little bit of his life, I couldn't hold him until he was over 2 weeks! Really, if he wants to be held all day, I will....um, worst day ever for daycare workers! Sorry!
Along those lines, don't hold your child to the point that others can't. Pass him/her around. Although, nobody will ever do it like Mommy.

7. CHERISH FAMILY
Best babysitters around...give them their time with him too!

8. TAKE ALL THE FREE STUFF PEOPLE GIVE YOU
Join every website and take every coupon. If you have amazing neighbors, like we do, then appreciate every giant tub of clothing they bring over. The Ellis Family has been amazing...not to mention, she is probably the one I will be calling all hours of the night for help! Trenton has more clothes than most thanks to Abbey and Steve!

9. ANNOY YOUR PEDIATRICIAN
This was hard for me since my father is a doctor, I want him to be the one to fix it, but we have a pediatrician for a reason, so don't be afraid to call him. I am still learning this lesson.

10. TAKE AS MANY PHOTOS AS POSSIBLE!
While we have yet to coordinate the perfect family photo, it is amazing to see how much Trenton changes. I laughed at Ansley and Adam when they brought down equipment for a photo shoot, but it did put everything into perspective. Sorry we didn't do all the outfit changes, Ans.

So, clearly I have a lot more to learn and I will continue to learn as I go...everyone messes up on the first child, right? Just ask Ansley! :)

Sir, my dad, has Trenton today, so I am positive there will be stories. Last time they were together, Dad taught him about physics and football. This morning he learned the date and the next federal holiday! It has already been an eventful morning.

Daddy & Trenton

So, I have realized that my husband reads our blog and he is not happy that I put he just wanted to caulk, so this blog will be dedicated to him and all he does for our family...tender moment.

Those of you who know me, know I am not a mushy person, but I do appreciate all he does. Many women out there will be so jealous to know that my precious husband takes ALL the night feeds. Initially, we did the thing where you get up together, but that was just STUPID...one person needs sleep. So, then it was alternating. Then, one night, Wes let me sleep through the night and it was all over! Now, I am ashamed to confess, but I am that Mom who doesn't always hear the monitor until my husband is already up and out of the bed! Wes doesn't complain and about once every 2 weeks he will nicely say, "Sara, will you get this one?" I do it, sometimes I am a touch cranky, but I do it.

Today, Wes is home with Trenton. They are going to hopefully take a nap together and do the laundry, etc, but it is a good daddy who is willing to not only take today off to be with his child, but who also takes Trenton to all of his appointments! Wes has really proven to be a great Daddy and I am excited to see he and Trenton learn all about each other.

Last night, Trenton was fighting sleep after his exciting day with MeMe, but it was hilarious because he would cry - totally fake - then make himself laugh (PRECIOUS giggle), then realize he was happy and shouldn't be, so cried again. Finally, we put him in his crib and he slept from about 9:30-2:00! After working a crazy day - Sherwin Williams was super busy - Wes came home and helped with Trenton so I could do homework, then got up for the night feeds!

One issue, Baxter now will not have much to do with Wes. The days of them running in the back yard together, OVER. Baxter will not leave Trenton and me to go anywhere..unless car keys and/or a leash are present. So, when our dog needs to go out at 3AM, it is I who wakes up and goes downstairs. I am hopeful soon they will resume their bond, but it isn't looking too good!

Still owe pictures..they should happen sometime
OH, I did get a partner for the group project...Life is Good! :) I know everyone was worried.

Life in the Ellis house!

So, I do have pictures to post, but will have to do that tonight sometime. SORRY!

Trenton is home, currently with MeMe, and doing better. He is going to be home every day this week with a different person - how exciting! He still has his RSV cough, but that is going to be around for a while. Yesterday we went to see Dr. Allen and Trenton is up to 10 pounds, 14 oz! He is so big! Wednesday we go to our P Pod appointment. This is a study through MCG where they track his growth and hopefully my weight loss! :) Monday, 1/25 he goes in for his shots...try again!

Wes and I are having such fun learning how to adjust to life with a baby! I have already been exposed to learning how to schedule things, meaning YOU CAN'T! I am having trouble with this because although I never was much of a planner, it is still hard for me to see dust lying on the table and not get up and dust! I wasn't this way until I had a child. And, I love my husband, I truly do, but this is another hard thing. He asks me every time I am running around the house cleaning, etc "What can I do to help?" Most women would probably love this question, but it really starts to get on my nerves. Does he not see the laundry piling up? The dust everywhere? That big dust bunny hiding behind the trashcan? I do love him and I tell him - I hate that question, so what does my husband decide to do? Caulk...truly, do we need to caulk as badly as the laundry needs to be done? This is why I love him.

Also, Saturday I started class - had a breakdown. I am not sure how I am going to manage work, school, mommyhood, wifehood, and keep up with everything. I will do it, but school is definitely going to have to slow down because clearly it will be the thing to lose out if anything changes. During class we had to go over the syllabus and then there was a group project - how sad am I, I didn't have a partner and still don't. This is a hard role for me because I have never been this girl. I am truly pitiful. I realized that most every one in my class is on the fast track and they are all together all the time. I can't do that. I truly was so pathetic. I just had one of those emotional days - I had to leave my sick child to go to class, I was tired, and I was just feeling overwhelmed! Please someone make fun of me for this. So, in a desperate attempt to find a partner I have emailed people in my class...I may just be partnerless. :(

Check back soon for pictures of my precious man during his stay in the hospital.

Back Home - Thank God for Grandparents!

Trenton has been released and he is home with Daddy. He just got a bath and threw up on Daddy, but that is because Trenton does not want to pace himself when he eats and Daddy, although he has been thrown up on twice, has not learned that he has to pace Trenton. I am glad Trenton was home, but SHOCKED when they told me he couldn't go to daycare for a week.

Now, why was I shocked? I am not sure. Clearly we are not going back to daycare any time soon. I would love for us to have the luxury of a stay at home Mom or a Nanny, but the reality is Trenton is safe and sound and paid for at his daycare, but that just puts another issue on the plate with which I have to deal. Why is it surprising that you can no longer have a plan with a child? I thought it would be so much easier to have a plan...I could just map out the day and Trenton would fall in line with his carrier and stroller and we would have an amazing day, but NO! That isn't how it goes. I went back to work on January 11th. I worked Monday - all day, Tuesday - I worked until 3:30 - when I got the "call", Wednesday and Thursday - off, Friday- work all day, Monday - federal holiday. I told Heather today that I would show up when I am available....clearly kidding, but honestly, that is what it is comes down to.

I have been working since I found out the news about daycare to find people to help us next week. Monday Trenton goes back to the doctor, just to be looked at, I will take him. Tuesday, we are thinking it may be MeMe...please, MeME. Wednesday, Daddy will keep him, Thursday, Sir (grandpa) will keep him, and Friday he can go back to daycare! We are glad to know he will be back with his favorites at daycare soon.

Please keep our little man in your prayers! We appreciate every prayer! Thank you for everything...

MCG CMC - Home away from home

So, those of you who follow Ansley's blog you know that Trenton is back in the hospital with RSV. Or as my Mom keeps calling it, the RSVP. Close enough! :) It was not an encouraging visit to the doctor for immunizations on Tuesday. I was at work waiting for Wes to call me with the news of how my precious baby was and instead I get.."meet me at home, we are going to the hospital, they think he has pnemonia". UM! I burst into tears at work and that brings all of the amazing women with which I work to my area to help. Once I realized that I needed to lock all my money in the vault (thank you for that reminder, Heather) I was off to the house.

We were a direct admit to the ER, which was nice and saved a lot of time. Dr. Freeman, amazing man, came in and told us he was going to test for RSV, do a chest x-ray, and put Trenton on oxygen. Trenton's cough originally reminded Dr. Freeman of whopping cough, so I was not sure what result we were going to get. Trenton's O2 levels were in the 70's, so Trenton is put on O2 and watched. I have to say, the deep suctioning they do is amazing, I think everyone would benefit. The RSV test came back positive...that was actually an exciting moment because pneumonia is just scarier to me.

Tuesday night I was in the hospital with Trenton and he would not really eat, cry, or sleep that well. I know it is their job, but do we really need vitals so frequently and could they not all coordinate their visit. Another annoying thing is the digoxin that Trenton is on, the hospital has the hardest time getting that drug approved, but that is okay, I was just glad my baby was going to get better.

Wednesday morning they came in to see him and we knew we were not going to leave that day. They took Trenton off oxygen and he did okay until around 2:00 when he would not eat. I am a worried mom by then because dehydration will not help things in this situation. So, I freak out a little bit, they put Trenton on O2 at 2:00 that afternoon. He is on it and his O2 levels stabilize and he eats! Oh, Trenton also has thrush at this point, so we are just thrilled. Dr. Allen comes that evening to check on Trenton, so nice of him!

Thursday morning - potential discharge day - that morning a nurse comes in with his nystatin for the thrush and shoots it directly down his throat...that induces vomit, thanks nurse! He vomits mucus, which is great, but not fun to clean up. Thursday he is doing well off O2. Dr. Pipkin comes to visit us (so thoughtful) and we are thinking discharge. Well, his O2 had been doing great, but when Dr. Freeman comes in to tell us we may be able to go home, Trenton's levels will not get out of the mid to low 80's, so another night.

Friday morning - Wes is there with him. They are going to monitor his O2 levels today and see if maybe we can't go home, but if we are not comfortable or if they are not, we will stay another night.

Bless our dog's heart...he is so confused and going a touch stir crazy.

Please keep our little man in your prayers. Not a fun blog, but our lives never the less.

Confession and a Blessing - not one in the same!

I hate to confess this, but I am the person who got my child sick! This is not something I am proud of, but I am accepting it as I can. However, now I have also gotten my husband sick!

I also find myself thinking about everything in terms of formula price...does any other Mom do this? I think this is because since Trenton's birth I took over the family finances. With Trenton's bills plus our normal bills plus me being in school, this is not an easy task, but it is made more difficult by my CRAZY thinking! This morning I was pumping gas and I looked at my $35.96 total and thought, this is at least one can of formula, but with my coupons, it wouold be 2! Is that sick? I think the reality of having a child is sinking in with me financially...it is an added expense, but all worth it! Don't get me wrong, I would not trade this expense for anything, but too often people just say it is expensive, I would have liked a little elaboration.

Even on Saturday, my father was with me to buy formula and he could not believe the price. He then told me how when we were little he got it for free...perk of the job, but still, he was in disbelief. It makes me wonder if I could crush up vitamins and make the same stuff.

Thankfully, Wes and I are blessed in that we are able to afford things for Trenton and we will be okay. Too often people take for granted all they have and it is sad that it took Trenton's birth and the complications he encountered for me to realize this.

Although, I am the one who infested my family with illness, I am grateful for the blessing of Wes and Trenton and I do apologize for the germs...hopefully the dog will stay well!

Things we do...

How is that when you are pregnant every one tells you exactly how everything will be...clearly, their delivery and parenting style is the same as yours and they know exactly what is best for your child. Well, when I was pregnant and heard every horror story there was combined with all their advice on how to be the best parent, I swore I would not be one of those women; however it all changes!

Parenting and raising a child is not something you can do alone. While I would have appreciated one less HORROR story during my pregnancy, I have NO clue what I am doing. I hate that more women don't admit that, maybe they know what they are doing. I find that now that my child is sick, I am at a loss. We didn't go to church on Sunday because of Trenton's illness, but my Mom did and she talked to EVERY mother in the church. They all had advice and my Mom ran to the store and bought every thing they said! THANK YOU MA'AM! I don't know what of it is working and what isn't, but I don't care. I appreciate my Mom going and buying everything and now I know what to stock up on! My entire house smells of eucalyptus because of the plug ins that Whitney suggested and it is helping the entire family! We may stick with it forever.

Trenton is at daycare today and so far, we have not received a call, but he does get his shots this afternoon, so it is going to be a rough day for the little man regardless.

All I know is I will now be one of those moms that ask every one how they did it...I don't want to break him! :)

Back to Work!

So, this morning was my first day back to work after 10 weeks of maternity leave. I was truly excited to come back and establish a routine for not only Trenton but also myself. I am in school and it starts on Saturday, but that is easier for me to adjust to. Well, little did I know that my first day back would be so incredibly full of drama!

First off, Trenton has been sick all weekend, something I attribute to daycare even though I have been sick, so we were watching and waiting to see if he would be going to daycare. Gratefully, he never ran a fever, so we were in the clear. He has his first baby cold. Bless his heart. Wes slept on the couch with him most of the night, so I got some rest. At 4:30AM wes comes and asks me to step in, that is fine. Wes had been up with him for 2 hours. So, I go downstairs and take over. Trenton is alert and even cooing some. He had eaten 2 oz before Wes turned him over to me, so I was sure he was feeling better. We sat there..he wasn't asleep, but he wasn't fussy. Around 5:30AM, Trenton decides he wants to vomit all over Mommy! Although, it was just all the junk that went down his throat from his cold. :) Always exciting though because this just means Dr. Pipkin's work is still amazing! I call for Wes and he comes and helps clean Trenton up and I clean myself up. Clearly, Trenton will not be going to daycare. We come up with a plan, I will keep Trenton until 8, Wes will come home until my Mom can come relieve Wes. So Wes leaves at 6:27AM for work (which is a minute from the house).

6:30AM, I get a call from Wes..."uh, do I call 911 if my store has been robbed?" First of all, YES! Second of all, are you really the father of my child? Who else would you call? So, I start laughing...I don't know why. I call my Mom who is coming to take over for us (We LOVE her for that and truly appreciate her help!) and tell her about it. Those of you who know my Mom know that she rarely says my name unless I am in trouble, well all she said was, "Sara, you are kidding!" I just laugh. My child is sick, my husband doesn't know who to call in the event of a robbery. So, 8 rolls around and Wes comes home. On the way to work I call dad, prison doctor, and tell him about the robbery...he says he will ask around to his boys at the prison and see who may have done it. I make it to work, lock myself out of all my applications because I can't remember a password after 10 weeks, move my desk back to the way I like it and I am making it through this day.

Just talked with Wes and Trenton is still not eating a lot, but doing well. Wes did hang the mirror in our ever evolving house. We are redoing our bathroom in the Master because it was SMALL and they painted it orange. We were going to gut it, but we can't afford it. More later after Trenton's Ma'am keeps him for the afternoon! Bless his heart, tomorrow he gets all his shots! :(
