So, this morning was my first day back to work after 10 weeks of maternity leave. I was truly excited to come back and establish a routine for not only Trenton but also myself. I am in school and it starts on Saturday, but that is easier for me to adjust to. Well, little did I know that my first day back would be so incredibly full of drama!
First off, Trenton has been sick all weekend, something I attribute to daycare even though I have been sick, so we were watching and waiting to see if he would be going to daycare. Gratefully, he never ran a fever, so we were in the clear. He has his first baby cold. Bless his heart. Wes slept on the couch with him most of the night, so I got some rest. At 4:30AM wes comes and asks me to step in, that is fine. Wes had been up with him for 2 hours. So, I go downstairs and take over. Trenton is alert and even cooing some. He had eaten 2 oz before Wes turned him over to me, so I was sure he was feeling better. We sat there..he wasn't asleep, but he wasn't fussy. Around 5:30AM, Trenton decides he wants to vomit all over Mommy! Although, it was just all the junk that went down his throat from his cold. :) Always exciting though because this just means Dr. Pipkin's work is still amazing! I call for Wes and he comes and helps clean Trenton up and I clean myself up. Clearly, Trenton will not be going to daycare. We come up with a plan, I will keep Trenton until 8, Wes will come home until my Mom can come relieve Wes. So Wes leaves at 6:27AM for work (which is a minute from the house).
6:30AM, I get a call from Wes..."uh, do I call 911 if my store has been robbed?" First of all, YES! Second of all, are you really the father of my child? Who else would you call? So, I start laughing...I don't know why. I call my Mom who is coming to take over for us (We LOVE her for that and truly appreciate her help!) and tell her about it. Those of you who know my Mom know that she rarely says my name unless I am in trouble, well all she said was, "Sara, you are kidding!" I just laugh. My child is sick, my husband doesn't know who to call in the event of a robbery. So, 8 rolls around and Wes comes home. On the way to work I call dad, prison doctor, and tell him about the robbery...he says he will ask around to his boys at the prison and see who may have done it. I make it to work, lock myself out of all my applications because I can't remember a password after 10 weeks, move my desk back to the way I like it and I am making it through this day.
Just talked with Wes and Trenton is still not eating a lot, but doing well. Wes did hang the mirror in our ever evolving house. We are redoing our bathroom in the Master because it was SMALL and they painted it orange. We were going to gut it, but we can't afford it. More later after Trenton's Ma'am keeps him for the afternoon! Bless his heart, tomorrow he gets all his shots! :(
