Every Save By the Bell fan remembers how cool Zack Morris was when he whipped this sucker out! I mean, it was basic, it dial, rang, and it was portable; however, not very practical. Who could ever forget the convenience of the next "cell phone"
If this doesn't scream quick and easy, but I remember when my Dad got his..you know, for those medical emergencies when he was "on call". Keep in mind this was the same time my sister and I shared a pager. Yes, we shared. Our friends not only had to keep up with the schedule of when each of us had the pager, but they also had to dial an 800 #, enter a 16 digit code, and then, they could page us. Fortunately Dad had this handy device should we need to call any one. I am sure I am missing some phones, but you get my point. The flip phone came, then the sliders/gliders, OH, and when I first started dating Wes he had direct connect. Talk about obnoxious! That stupid noise and EVERYBODY could hear your conversation. Then the touch screens, now you don't really have to do anything but press a button and you are connected to every one. Well, this is great, but is it necessary??
I am at the stage where I have to pay my own bills and I have to tell you that I am not excited to have a BIG cell phone bill so that I can have the capability to sit at a dinner table and speak to nobody because I am too busy on my phone. Is it really that important that someone made it to the next stage in FarmVille or that another person just got back from walking their dog? I did admit that I love my phone, but the reality is this - I would trade my phone in for a Zack Morris phone any day if it meant that the government didn't have to create new laws and my bill would be under 150.00. I don't have a land line, but really, I can survive without a fancy phone.
However, simple Zack Morris phones are not an option anymore. I was told I could get a phone with just texting capabilities, but really, why would I? We are moving more and more to the point where we don't even talk on the phone, just chat via video. I am sure this is exactly what Alexander Graham Bell had in mind.
Not to far into the future we will have technology that reads our facial/physical responses and reacts accordingly...Good Bye Dewey Decimal! Hello John Connor?
