MY yesterday - The SAGA of Baxter

So, as many of you know, Baxter is a BIG dog; however, he is not a brave dog. Case in point, we went on a walk and Baxter was PETRIFIED of the yorkie that was viciously chasing us!

Back story of Baxter....

When we moved on Hammond Drive he was an outside dog. LOVED the back yard and everything; however, not long after we moved in we learned that our neighbors (to the right of our house, not the Ellis's) had a TON of cats...now, keep in mind, I do not like cats, so a TON = 6. They were kittens at the time of our move, but still, not cute. Now, there are at least 2 CATS if not more that roam the streets. One day, one of the cats decided to sit on our fence prompting our dog to jump the fence and get him. So, NATURALLY, the dog chased the cat, the cat ran home, the cats owner called animal control on Baxter. FORTUNATELY, wes was getting home for lunch right as animal control was going to "arrest" Baxter. Warning 1 for Baxter. So, Baxter became an inside dog. Not terrible since we have windows in the front of our home, but still, not the best for him.

Inside dog Baxter, now sits and watches out the windows as these cats come in and out of our garage, our yard and just sit and taunt him. I am OVER IT! Yesterday, Wes had to close because of being short staffed, so I was with Trenton by myself. Not a problem, but Trenton gets fussy after a while and then falls asleep for the night. Well, as all of this is going on, Baxter starts his BIG boy bark out the window. Slams his weight into the window and I think he is going to break through it....well, actually he doesn't break through it, but he doesn't stop barking. So I decide I have had ENOUGH! I put my baby in his pack and play and I decide to go get the cat.

The cat thinks it is a big shot, just sitting in front of my house taunting my big Baxter, then I start coming. Well, I am ready to just grab the cat and take him to animal control myself. He runs away and I am ANGRY. However, coming back down my driveway I slip on the STUPID sweet gum tree droppings. THANKFULLY Trenton was inside!!!!! I catch myself with my right hand as my left leg goes completely behind me. I don't do splits, but yesterday, I did. I am in so much pain. I fell, I hate the cat, my baby is crying, my husband isn't home. I go inside and get Trenton (who by this point has real tears going down his face) and call Wes.

He races home. I am glad he doesn't work far. While I had Trenton, I didn't want to start climbing stairs while holding him until I knew I would be okay, so I just sat there. Trenton was no longer crying, but I was. I was probably more embarrassed than anything, but still.

Fastforward...9:00AM....today!

I call animal control. The collar -less cats will have a formal report written up as soon as I get home and am able to do it. 1st step in the cats getting arrested.

How can you call animal control on this face???

*** side note, Baxter actually has 2 strikes with animal control, but ENOUGH is ENOUGH!!! ***
